Elsa - Queen of Denmark and Norway

Frozen is set in July 1839 but I thought because I already draw Anna in 1830s I would draw Elsa in early 1800s - her ice dress cape is quite similar to this time periods capes. Frozen is also set in Norway but in early 19th century Norway was in a union with Denmark. That's why I used Danish Crown Regalia for the reference to the crown, sceptre and royal orb.

After rococos glamours and magnificent pannier dresses the western fashion experienced quite a revolution. Early 1800s was all about antique Greece and Rome. Dresses became very simple and waist line rose just below the bust. Hairstyles were very influenced by antique Greek style - short curls, usually bulled back in bun. The style icon of "undressed age" was Joséphine de Beauharnais, first empress of France. Her slender figure and dark hair were perfect for the time and she used her fashion taste to present herself and her husband's, Napoleons, empire.
