Madame Long Hair

Ah Rapunzel! I really love Tangled and her little bit silly personality. And Finn (Eugenie) is my favorite disney prince. Rapunzel was quite easy one because the movie's creators used Jean-Honoré Fragonard's painting "The Swing" as the reference picture for the world of Tangled. So obviously I used also this picture for the Rapunzel lovely rococo look. 

Jean-Honoré Fragonard's painting "The Swing" is actually a little bit naughty which is typical for rococo paintings. It was made for rich noble man (is unclear who the man really was) and the woman on the swing is his mistress. The noble man is hiding in the bushes and the lady gives a furtive peep under her dress.

The fashion icon of the time was king Louis XV's mistress madame de Pompadour. Pompadour hairstyle and Pompadour heels are named after her. Madame de Pompadour wasn't high nobility and that's why not really suitable to become official mistress to the king of France. But she was beautiful and, the most important, intelligent. After she became the maîtresse-en-titre of the king, she practically ruled the kingdom. She was also a major patron of arts and philosophers.

Rapunzel dress is very typical high rococo dress and called a Robe à la Française. The skirt is wide because of the underskirt's pannier which was popular during mid 18th century. The dress is decorated with bows, lace and roses which symbolized the lightness and carefreeness of the age. The hat is bergère hat which was popular in 18th century when the nature and outdoor life was fashionable.
